Moxibustion
What is Moxibustion?
Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves the burning of mug wort, a small, spongy herb, to facilitate healing. It has been used in China for thousands of years.
How does it work?
With moxibustion, an acupuncturist lights one end of a moxa stick and holds it close to the area being treated for several minutes until the area turns red. The purpose is to strengthen the blood, stimulate the flow of energy, and maintain general health and wellness.
At Tao Clinic, our acupuncturists may use moxibustion for people suffering from a cold or stagnant condition, as well as people who have a very deficient Qi. This technique expels the cold, warms and replenishes Qi, leading to a smoother flow of blood and energy.
